Moving on

Birds flying in the sky, moving on in life Photo by Hussein El Ali for Pexels

I never realized how things began to fall into place, and I never dreamed that this time would ever come. I had been envisioning this moment my whole life, and now that it is here, I can hardly believe it. As I hung up the phone with my college advisor, securing an internship, the Summer of 2023 became a turning point. Not only did I complete my fall classes, but I also gained approval to substitute a crucial springtime class, keeping me on track to graduate earlier. Landing an internship with a digital magazine company marked another milestone in my journey. With just four classes remaining, I pondered my future in the Arts field. I majored in communication with a concentration in journalism and a minor in international relations and foreign policies. I contemplated whether to pursue my childhood dream of teaching English abroad or diving into journalism. Although I envisioned working for myself eventually, I knew more experience was necessary.

In July 2023, everything began to align. I discovered "TEFL Heaven," a company that facilitates relocation for English teaching opportunities. The decision to teach English became more apparent, and I'll share more about this company in the future. From finishing my Bachelor's degree early to studying in England, getting engaged, and being accepted into graduate school for a Master's degree in Producing, life felt like a series of fortunate events. Preparing to leave the United States, I reflect on the bittersweet process of packing up my life. Walking into a new career, marriage, and life in a different country, I recognize the fear and excitement intertwined. I've made peace with my past in the United States, accepting that it wasn't my place. As I turn my back on the once-traumatic country, I'm nervous but overwhelmingly excited to embark on this new chapter. Life is too short to hold onto something not meant for you. I dreamed of leaving the United States since I was eight, and now that the moment is here, I eagerly anticipate sharing my new life.
