Leaving the United States for personal reasons has emerged as a lifelong dream. Yet, the question of a potential return to the United States lingers persistently. Since my departure in January 2024, close friends have consistently inquired about the possibility of a return. Upon deep reflection, despite initial resistance due to a fondness for travel and the nomadic lifestyle it offers, consideration is now given to returning to the United States. This shift in perspective stems from the realization that, regardless of feelings, the United States remains home. Living abroad has significantly altered my perspectives; it marks my longest out of the United States. While content with life in Cambodia, where self-employment as an online English Tutor is fulfilling, traditional teaching roles in Cambodian schools were consciously dismissed. As endeavors for personal and professional growth continue, numerous job offers from the United States have surfaced. Despite contemplating these opportunities and current overseas experiences, the choice was made to explore life abroad and gradually establish oneself. Over the four months in Cambodia, additional opportunities from the United States have fostered ongoing personal development. Reflecting on life and pursuing childhood dreams underscores the significance of home, regardless of location. The journey is perceived as an honor, being the first in the family to make such a significant move. Should the opportunities presented be seized, a return to the United States may be considered, with alternating stays between the homeland and another chosen country. The aspiration to live brought peace of mind and dispelled any lingering negative perceptions of the previously distressing United States.
